Swiss Pantry in Belvidere Enters a Delicious New Era Under Luke and Victoria Massey

In Belvidere, there’s a place where the smell of fresh bread, warm fried pies, and sweet pastries greets you the moment you step inside. That’s Swiss Pantry, a beloved local bakery and bulk food store where you can pick up everything from fresh-baked loaves and cookies to deli meats, cheeses, casseroles, and hard-to-find pantry staples.

Swiss Pantry Building

The Miller family founded Swiss Pantry in 1987, weaving their Swiss and Mennonite heritage into every part of the business. They built it with love, hard work, and a dedication to quality that earned the trust and loyalty of the community. Their chapter was long and full of heart, and in April 2025, it came time to pass the apron to the next caretakers.

That’s when Luke and Victoria Massey stepped in, ready to bring their own passion for baking and community to Swiss Pantry’s next chapter. What began as a home-based baking venture soon blossomed into a thriving presence at the Huntsville Farmers Market and Greene Street Market at Nativity, where their breads and pastries quickly became local favorites. Their commitment to quality, craft, and excellence caught the attention of Victoria’s Aunt Charlotte, who knew they were the right people to carry Swiss Pantry forward.

Luke and Victoria plan to honor the shop’s legacy while introducing exciting new touches. They’re working toward using cleaner, zero-processed ingredients, expanding the bakery menu, and adding a coffee shop. With Luke's background as a skilled barista and Victoria’s talent for creating unforgettable baked goods, the future of Swiss Pantry is looking brighter (and tastier) than ever.

Homemade donuts at Swiss Pantry

Many of the traditions customers love are staying exactly the same. Donut Saturdays are still happening on the first and third Saturday of every month, featuring classic vanilla, maple, and chocolate glaze along with a rotating specialty flavor. Fried pies are still made fresh every Monday and Thursday in flavors like peach, apple, chocolate, coconut, and pecan, fried in beef tallow for that perfect, nostalgic taste. And the freezer section is still stocked with ready-to-bake casseroles from chicken and dressing to lasagna and chicken pot pie.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the first weekend in October, when Swiss Pantry will host their annual Open House. It’s a beloved tradition, and this year will be especially meaningful as Luke and Victoria put their own stamp on the event while honoring everything the Millers built.

Whether you’re picking up a sandwich for lunch, a box of donuts to share, or soon, a perfectly crafted latte, every visit to Swiss Pantry supports a tradition of family, hard work, and community connection. Here’s to the Millers for giving Belvidere such a treasure, and here’s to Luke and Victoria Massey for carrying the Swiss Pantry legacy into a delicious new future.
