In downtown Lynnville, you will find The Lynnville Fried Pie Company. Owners Patty and Chuck Nicks owned the building and after getting it refurbished they moved their Pie Company operation into the storefront. Chuck is a very astute businessman and greets patrons on the sidewalk ensuring everyone feels welcome in his shop. Upon entering the shop we met Patty who was discussing recipes with Sandra White their baker.
Sandra stated that everyone who works here is like family. Together they come up with recipes for other flavors of pies to make. Tim Turner is the “master crust maker” and yes he is a master at his craft. They employ 6 people to assist with the operation.
The Nick’s moved here from California, Chuck is from here and came home after buying a farm. The Colonel is the one who suggested they make fried pies. In California, they had a business baking pies for grocery stores. They worked hard to perfect the fried pies into what they produce today. Flakey crusts and homemade fillings, you won't find a canned pie filling in their pies.
The top 3 pies are Apple, Peach, and Chocolate. But Chuck was quick to say “the most popular; is the next one” They are planning to expand their menu and are looking to feature Nash family Dairy ice cream. Wow: I didn't think they could improve their pies but you had me at ice cream.
Take the time to go visit The Lynnville Fried Pie Company and you will leave friends. You also cannot leave without taking some home for later. We love fried pies and have to say these are the best ones we've ever eaten.
