At the recommendation of our friend Leslie Lammer we visited Project Donuts, an unassuming doughnut shop located at 1202 Hillsboro Blvd. in Manchester, TN. If you love doughnuts (and who doesn’t??), this shop holds some over-the-top surprises, made fresh every day. The sweet treats range from specialty designs, yeast-made goodies, scrumptious cake doughnuts, and even gluten free.

Erica welcomed us in, then took her time to tell us what makes this place, and the great sweets they serve, so special. “We love doughnuts,” she said. “And these are not just beautiful, which we take pride in, but they are delicious.” The shop makes sure every pastry served is made fresh that very day, no linger-overs. Also, remarkably, every delicious dunker (or not) is handmade. At Project Donuts you will find your favorite, guaranteed, from simple glazed to the most intricate creations. They even make a savory croissant that is filled with sausage and cheese.

For all of the morning coffee drinkers, pick up your specialty coffee: Latte, iced coffee, coffee con Leche, or Cuban. Any of these pair perfectly with the delicious doughnuts here at Project Donuts.

There is not a bad doughnut in their offerings, but they do have some that fly off the shelves, so get there early before they sell out. Hours are Mon. - Sat. 5 a.m. - 2 p.m. CST and Sundays 6 a.m. -12 p.m. CST.

Now it’s confession time. That very heavy, but extremely affordable, box of scrumptiousness we took home was enjoyed immensely. Now we need to return to try the ones that didn’t fit in the box. And YES, our diet is out the window, but that won’t stop us when we have doughnut options like Project Donuts.
