Lirette’s Cajun Kitchen and Seafood is the most authentic experience you can find outside of the bayou.

Lirette’s Cajun Kitchen and Seafood is a destination dining EXPERIENCE!  And you know we love an EXPERIENCE. The restaurant is creatively appointed in a repurposed store/gas station, complete with a front porch as welcoming as the old home place.

The owner, Rene, greeted us as we stepped inside her establishment located on the main road to the TN River and Alabama, at 6553 Minor Hill Hwy in Goodspring, TN. She proceeded to explain the menu, since there were so many delicious-sounding choices. Rene and her family chose this location for its homey feel, which they definitely nailed! It’s neither too large nor too small, but like Goldilocks said,  “It’s just right!” Travelers will easily be lured in with the great Cajun cooking.

Originally from Houma, LA, Rene and her family brought their talent and love of authentic Cajun cuisine with them when they moved to the Volunteer State. They enjoy bringing a bit of Louisiana to Tennessee through cooking. What started with a popular food truck, is now this inviting permanent location. We are more than overjoyed with that news, as we will be here frequently!

All food is cooked to order and the portions are ample. Stephanie Russ & Jenna Abrams work as a team to keep the food coming out quickly. Rene’s mom, who happened to be dining-in when we were there, is a major champion of the place. “There is no way to choose a favorite item,” she said. “If they boiled my shoe, I’d eat it.”

On the day we visited my favorite was the daily special - red beans & rice. I added shrimp and two sides. It was the best Cajun food I’ve ever eaten, and that is saying something, since we’ve eaten at many places throughout Louisiana. DanO had the crawfish basket with Cajun coated fries and coleslaw. I can also say this was also delicious, since I had to take a taste! The crawfish was tender and those fries were noteworthy.

Specialty items include their Mardi Gras king cakes, crawfish bread, and bread pudding.  At Christmas they create delicious beignets. Take and bakes can be found as pop ups on social media, so keep a watch-out for some good grub!

The added bonus:  Lirette adds a huge sprinkle of love to every order.
