After a delightful drive through the picturesque Tennessee countryside, we found ourselves enchanted by the welcoming allure of Petersburg, TN. The town square bustling with life, adorned with a few vendors, open shops, and a sense of community that immediately embraced us. Our journey was marked by chance encounters with friendly locals, including the mayor, making our visit a truly immersive experience.

As we strolled through the square, the historical charm of the buildings captivated us. Many were undergoing loving restoration, preserving the town's rich history for generations to come. Notably, the firehall boasted a whimsical mural featuring Smokey The Bear, a charming touch that shouldn't be missed.

A highlight of our visit was the warm embrace we received from the townsfolk, who graciously shared stories about Petersburg's history. Our shopping spree yielded a few unique finds, adding a personal touch to our memorable day. With gratitude to those who took the time to introduce us to the town's legacy, we eagerly anticipate returning to explore more of Petersburg's hidden gems.


Miss Jean’s Sandwich & Ice Cream Shop: A Taste of Home

Nestled on the square in Petersburg, the historic Miss Jean’s Sandwich & Ice Cream Shop beckons with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Housed in a beautifully restored building, the shop offers both indoor and outdoor seating, allowing patrons to bask in the beauty of the surroundings, especially during warm weather.

Owned by Petersburg native Jean Griffin, Miss Jean’s is a labor of love and a homecoming for its proprietor. The intentional seating arrangement encourages patrons to share tables, fostering genuine conversations and a break from the digital world. It's a place where friendships are forged over delightful sandwiches and meticulously crafted ice cream sundaes.


The menu boasts tempting options, from the crowd-favorite chicken salad to the refreshing red, white, & blue salad. Save room for dessert, as the ice cream sundaes are known to be a local favorite. With Miss Jeans open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it's well worth the drive for a unique culinary experience.


The Babe Co.: Every Girl's Dream Store

Just a couple of doors down from Miss Jean’s, The Babe Co. steals the spotlight in a historic building that exudes charm. Owner Jessica Tietgens envisioned a haven for girls of all ages to express their creativity, resulting in a delightful shop filled with clothing, accessories, Bibles,  journals, and an exciting DIY Hat Bar.




The shop radiates positivity, providing a welcoming space for everyone. The DIY Hat Bar allows patrons to personalize trucker hats, toboggans, and fedoras to their heart's content. With a comfortable seating area encouraging visitors to linger, The Babe Co. is not just a store but a delightful experience.


Open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00-6:00, The Babe Co. is the perfect place to explore after a satisfying meal at Miss Jean’s. Keep an eye out for upcoming events, including karaoke nights and other exciting plans.
