Hunter Wolkonowski, also known as HunterGirl, has moved to Top 3 and is a step closer to winning American Idol. She will enjoy a hometown visit to Winchester, Tennessee, on May 17. HunterGirl will compete in the finale next week.
“You are a superstar,” said Katy Perry after HunterGirl’s performance on May 15, when HunterGirl brought Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It” to the stage.
“I had so much fun,” HunterGirl said.
She also wowed the judges and the audience with her rendition of Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.”
“You are totally in star mode right now,” Luke Bryan told HunterGirl.
With HunterGirl moving closer to winning the contest, Winchester officials have planned exciting events to welcome her. HunterGirl will be coming home along with American Idol’s producers for a thrilling day of events on Tuesday, May 17.
Schedule of events Tuesday, May 17
9:30 a.m. – Proclamation at the Oldham Theatre
1 p.m. – Walk through of Franklin County High School
3:30 p.m. – HunterGirl Costume Contest on the square
4 p.m. – Parade on the square
4:30-8:30 – Concert at Twin Creeks Marina and Resort. This free concert will feature HunterGirl and local performers.
Support from Winchester
HunterGirl grew up in Winchester and began performing at her local church and competing in various singing competitions. Winchester residents have supported HunterGirl from her first days as a contestant on American Idol. Proud of HunterGirl, they have been rooting for her every step of the way.
The Oldham Theatre in Winchester has welcomed fans to watch HunterGirl perform and has encouraged locals to vote for her.
Montana Medina, owner of Oldham Theatre, offered free weekly watch parties. She enjoyed seeing the community come together, have fun, and support HunterGirl.
“Our small community needs people who lead by example and that’s exactly what Hunter is,” Medina said. “She has given hope to this community and our youth. Because of her we know hard work and dedication can make your dreams come true. We are just so incredibly proud to be able to offer a space for the community to gather in support of her.”
HunterGirl will be competing in the American Idol’s finale. The finale is set for May 22.
