Wine, Music, Art – The best life has to offer is at Pickers Creek Winery

Updated: Sep 22, 2023

In December of 2009, Phil and Lydia Butler George, two active empty-nesters, decided it was time to go home. Both daughters, Alli and Abby, had gone to college and started their own lives.

With aspirations of turning their love for great wine into a reality of a vineyard and winery for all to enjoy, what better place to do so than in the heart of Middle Tennessee where the wine industry was beginning to make significant strides in producing quality, award-winning wines? As a result, they came home to the place where they both were raised – Lewisburg, Tennessee.

The vision of Pickers Creek Winery was to combine elements of things that make life more enjoyable – great music, art, and wine. They built a venue for tasting delicious wines. With names like “Harmony” (a Chambourcin and Cabernet Sauvignon blend), “Tennessee Twang” (made from southern Muscadine grapes ) and Blackberry Blues (a sweet berry wine), a tasting at Pickers Creek is like reliving the popular, old Volunteer Jam (without the smell or taste of reefer, whiskers, or fiddle bow rosin).

The art gallery and gift shop showcases Lydia’s mosaics and paintings along with pieces from other local artists. You will also find lots of fun wine-related gifts and many local items including handmade jewelry, local food products, pottery, and other unique items.

Phil's brother Kenneth, who also lives on the farm, manages the vineyard, is the music director, and is an integral part of the winery's daily operations. Kenneth is also a “picker” and on any given night you may hear him pick and sing a few tunes.

Every Saturday from now until the end of October, Pickers Creek Winery features a live band, food truck, and a bonfire (weather permitting). This Saturday, September 22 from 6–8pm enjoy music from The Full Circle Band and Chef Joe Love’s Crepes will be on site to make sweet and savory crepes.

Because they are kid-friendly, you are welcome to experience the winery with your entire family.

So, consider yourself invited to come sit on the wide porches, under the trees, or by the bonfire, listen to music, sip your favorite wines and enjoy all of the beauty life has to offer.
