Honoring Heroes at Home: The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Comes to Winchester

ree

Beginning Thursday, August 14, 2025, and continuing through Monday, August 18, 2025, the poignant tribute known as the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be on display at Winchester City Park, near the Citizen Pavilion, located at 1561 Phillip Fulmer Parkway in Winchester, Tennessee.

A Local Tribute with National Resonance

This mobile memorial is a scaled replica—at 3/5 the size—of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It stands six feet tall at its center and spans nearly 300 feet, bearing the names of over 58,000 service members who sacrificed their lives during the Vietnam War.

Created by Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard, Inc., this wall brings deeply personal experiences and remembrance directly into community spaces, offering those who may never visit Washington, D.C., a chance to reflect and honor.

Organized Through Collaboration

The event is a result of close collaboration between local government and veterans’ organizations. Key hosts include the City of Winchester, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 71, VFW Post 1893, American Legion Post 44, and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA 18‑11). Political figures involved include Congressman Scott DesJarlais, State Senator Janice Bowling, and State Representative Iris Rudder.
