Happy ThanksGIVING from Whiskey Waffle

Updated: Dec 14, 2022

As a teenager, my friends and I volunteered at the Shepherd's House, a local homeless shelter in Tullahoma. Since becoming an adult, my husband and I have donated a few times to them as well. This year, I reached out to the Shepherd's House, where seven women and three children are currently living. My original plan was to cook a meal for them, but I was told that if I donated the ingredients, they would love to cook Thanksgiving dinner together.

With that being said, I'd like to start a new Whiskey Waffle Thanksgiving tradition. As my social media following grows, I am utilizing it to its full potential. Besides providing these women and children with the ingredients to cook a Thanksgiving dinner, I also want to gather letters of encouragement from our community. One loving interaction can change your life forever. As a result, Whiskey Waffle needs your help.

If you are a mother, consider writing a letter to a stranger as if she was your daughter or just another mother. If you are a son, write as if you were writing to your mother or sister. You can have your little ones color some pictures for the kids at the Shepherd's house if they like to draw. We will collect these letters until Tuesday, November 22, 2022. These letters have no expectations. It can be two pages long or two sentences long. God will make sure they reach the right people.

If you can't make it to Whiskey Waffle, type it and message it to me and I'll write it out for you! There's just something about a handwritten note that is a lot more personal. If you bring me a letter, I won't read it! I will send it directly to The Shepherd's House. You can choose to remain anonymous or you can include your contact information. It's completely up to you.

You can also donate in other ways by dropping off donations at Whiskey Waffle until Tuesday! You can donate toiletries, laundry detergents, socks, underwear, food, water, feminine hygiene products, blankets, and clothes for cold weather.

Take a minute to imagine what it would be like if we were in their shoes! I hope you enjoy this idea as much as I do. Let's spread the word as much as we can so we can get them as much love as possible!
