Welcome to the Wayne County Walk of Fame, a tribute to the remarkable musicians, songwriters, and performers who have called Wayne County, Tennessee home.

Nestled between the legendary music centers of Nashville, Memphis, and Muscle Shoals, Wayne County has long been a crossroads of musical inspiration. Generations of talented artists have emerged from these hills, contributing to country, gospel, rockabilly, bluegrass, and American music as a whole. As the famous song Nashville Cats reminds us, “Nashville cats play country music when they’re two,” and many of the artists honored here began performing while still children.

As you explore the Walk of Fame, you’ll discover the stories of gifted individuals whose talents carried them from small-town Tennessee stages to audiences around the world. Their music, creativity, and dedication helped shape the rich cultural heritage that continues to define Wayne County today.

Just a short walk away, the Wayne County Museum preserves and celebrates this musical legacy through memorabilia, photographs, instruments, recordings, and personal stories from many of the artists recognized here. The museum also features exhibits honoring hometown favorites such as Mark Collie and numerous other performers who left their mark on American music.

The Wayne County Walk of Fame was developed using artist biographies from The Heritage Project: A Collection of Musical Talent in Wayne County, Tennessee, by Anita Miller. Copies of the book are available for purchase at the Wayne County Museum. The audio tour is narrated by Nashville radio personality Josh Kuhn.
