Music City Kartplex is Shelbyville’s Need-for-Speed Playground

Just north of downtown Shelbyville, there's a half-mile stretch of asphalt that's redefining go-karting in Tennessee. Music City Kartplex isn’t just a place to kill an hour, it’s a professionally designed track experience that delivers real speed, real grip, and real fun. From casual thrill-seekers to experienced racers, this place is built to get your heart rate up and your lap times down.

The circuit is smooth and fast, with multiple layout configurations to bring a fresh challenge to each visit. The CRG rental karts, imported from Italy, can hit speeds up to 50 miles per hour. These karts are built for performance and come equipped with roll bars and safety harnesses, giving drivers age 12 and up (and at least 58 inches tall) an authentic racing experience without needing your own gear.

There's a clear focus on safety and quality here, but the excitement is front and center. If you're into the more serious side of the sport, Music City Kartplex is building something big. Phase 1 of the facility opened in late 2024, and it already includes a full kart fleet, racing leagues, and a growing list of driver development programs. Phase 2 is on the way, with plans for a 0.9-mile competition course, a trackside restaurant, and owner garages that will elevate the experience for professional and competitive racers.

Open Wednesday through Sunday, Music City Kartplex has quickly become a go-to destination for fun in Middle Tennessee. You'll find it at 3225 Hwy. 231 North in Shelbyville, right down the road from Nearest Green Distillery and well worth the trip.

Make a full day of it!

After you've had your fill of adrenaline, head into downtown Shelbyville to grab a bite at Glass Hollow Table & Tavern and take some time to explore the nearby shops. Glass Hollow is known for it's creative takes on Southern favorites and is always a great pick for lunch or dinner. You'll also find plenty of local antique stores, like The Shops at Main and McGrew and Yesterday's Treasures, and other fun shops to browse through while you're there.
