It's officially summer in Tennessee! The days are long and the sun is hot, making it the perfect time to explore all the water features the state has to offer. With creek cascades and peaceful lakes, familiar favorites and hidden gems, Tennessee has no shortage of ways to keep cool this season!

Perhaps one of the most well-known recreational lakes in the area, Tims Ford is truly a Tennessee must-visit. Tims Ford has something for every kind of lake lover, from competitive fishing tournaments to ice cream and a cool breeze at the Lakeview Restaurant. Experience the lake at its peak in summer: kayak the calm waters, spend a day on the public beaches, or hike at Tims Ford State Park to take in the views.


Buffalo River

The Buffalo River winds its way through Buffalo River Country and the Natchez Valley, giving you plenty of opportunity to hop in a kayak and explore the waters. At Seven Pines River Resort in Waynesboro, you can book a night of glamping with a stunning view of the river or take a break on their banks and enjoy a snack from Puckerwilly's General Store. Rutledge Falls, just a few miles from downtown Tullahoma, is perhaps best known for its 2009 Feature in Hannah Montana: The Movie. The reality of the waterfall is even better: a (very) short hike, plenty of space to sit, and a cool, clear swimming hole waiting just for you!
