Grundy County, TN — The Caverns Sessions returns this fall for Season 14, bringing a fresh slate of remarkable artists to PBS stations and the PBS app. Taped live in The Caverns’ world-renowned underground concert hall in Grundy County, TN, the season kicks off September 10, 2025, with an episode featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Shakey Graves


“Season after season, we’re reminded of how music and place shape one another,” says Todd Mayo, owner of The Caverns and co-founder of Todd Squared, LLC. “These performances aren’t just concerts—they’re moments suspended in stone and time, echoing from the artists to the audience and back again. That’s the enduring enchantment of The Caverns Sessions.” 


The new season showcases a dynamic range of artists across Americana, roots, country, and beyond. Episodes will premiere weekly on PBS. Full broadcast schedule: 

  • Sept 10 – Shakey Graves: Known for his gritty vocals, eclectic songwriting, and inventive live arrangements that blend folk, blues, and rock influences. 

  • Sept 17 – Ruby Waters: A Canadian indie force whose raw vocals and sharp lyricism blur the lines between folk, rock, and soul. 

  • Sept 24 – Violent Femmes: The seminal alternative folk-punk band whose quirky, energetic sound has influenced generations of musicians. 

  • Oct 1 – Bronwyn Keith-Hynes: GRAMMY-winning fiddle virtuoso blending bluegrass tradition with bold new sounds. 

  • Oct 8 – The String Cheese Incident: Jam-band innovators celebrated for their adventurous mix of bluegrass, funk, rock, and electronica. 

  • Oct 15 – Armchair Boogie: Progressive bluegrass pickers with a high-energy, forward-thinking approach to acoustic music.

  • Oct 22 – The Oak Ridge Boys: The Country Music Hall of Fame quartet shares timeless harmonies and hits spanning generations. 

  • Oct 29 – Jesse Roper: Canadian rocker channeling blues grit and soulful swagger into unforgettable performances. 

  • Nov 5 – The SteelDrivers: GRAMMY-winning bluegrass band, famed for their hard-driving sound and emotional storytelling. 

  • Nov 12 – The Headhunters: Formed in 1973 and led by original members Mike Clark and Bill Summers, the band helped define jazz-funk with classics like “Chameleon” and “God Make Me Funky.” 

  • Nov 19 – Buckethead: The enigmatic guitar master known for his virtuosic playing and boundary-pushing creativity. 

  • Nov 26 – Flatland Cavalry: Rising country stars with heartfelt songwriting and a modern Americana edge. 


“Season 14 continues our tradition of pairing extraordinary artistry with one of the most unique stages in the world,” says Todd Jarrell, producer of the series. “The diversity in genres of The Caverns Sessions offers a point of discovery for our audiences—here is music from the heart of the American experience.” 


New episodes of The Caverns Sessions will air nationwide on PBS stations and stream on PBS.org and the PBS app for 30 days after each premiere. Check local listings for exact airdates and times. 


Season 14 of The Caverns Sessions is produced by Todd Mayo and Todd Jarrell of Todd Squared, LLC, directed by Randy Hale (all episodes) with the exception of the Flatland Cavalry episode, which was directed by Nic Dugger. Andy Kern served as Audio Engineer with Han Henze and Brian Kink as Lighting Directors. 


The series is supported by underwriting from the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Experience TN. The 12-episode series is presented to PBS nationally in partnership with WCTE Central TN PBS in Cookeville, TN.
