The Commodore Hotel & Cafe - Buffalo River Night Float

In Linden TN across from the courthouse sits The Commodore Hotel. Built in 1939 and housed a bank. In 2004 the Dumont’s bought the building and they lovingly restored it to the glory that it is now with 21 comfortable and beautiful rooms. It is a small, intimate place where you will be welcomed and treated like family. Next door is a Speakeasy where guests can enjoy a comfortable place to sit and get to know each other, and plan locations to visit while in the area.

We were not here to stay in the hotel, we’ve stayed here a few times before. No, we were here to stay on the banks of the Buffalo River.

Yes, The Commodore has Riverfront sites with hookups close to the square. There is nothing as relaxing as falling asleep to the sound of running water. And in the morning waking up and taking a walk along the river's edge. The campsite was large and level with electric and water hookups.

But it gets even better…they host a nighttime float down the Buffalo River.

After a riverside dinner and before sunset, we loaded up and put in upstream from our campsite. It was a calm easy float, and as the sun started setting all our cares floated away. It was very relaxing.

The sunset was MAGNIFICENT. As it became darker they turned on the lights on the kayaks illuminating the water and providing enough ambient light to enjoy the night.

We got out to stretch our legs at their ”flower garden” where there were solar flowers to light up the field. We each picked a flower and finished the float with it on our kayaks.

As we approached our camp they had lights strung in the trees and a fog machine creating a light show. We did not want to end the float.

Call and make your reservations for this one-of-a-kind River adventure. It was an EXPERIENCE that we will never forget.
